Guangjiong Hou's Fund is classified in scholarship for students and research award

 

Prof. Hou Guangjiong is a world famous soil scientist, also an academician of Academy of China, British Royal Society Fellow, and honorary president of Southwest Agricultural University. He dedicated all of his life to soil science and is considered as one of the pioneers and founders of soil science in China. He developed soil fertility theory and found ridge cultivation technique in paddy fields combined with no-tillage. Some of his students are now famous soil scientists.

According to the wishes of Prof. Hou and the proposals of his students working in various positions, Guangjiong Hou's Fund was established in 2001 with the purpose for developing agricultural sciences on the base of Prof. Hou.

Guangjiong Hou's Fund is classified in scholarship for students and research award for scientists. The scholarship is given to the excellent 3 year students and graduate students with comprehensive abilities of moralities, studies and social practices in Southwest Agricultural University. The research award is given to the scientists and agricultural educators to encourage them to make achievements in agro-ecology construction, intensive agriculture production, and rational utilization of agricultural resources in general and "soil biological thermodynamics" and soil no-tillage in particular. The scientists and agricultural educators should be from Southwest China, i.e. Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Tibet).
